Joy Engle – Camp Lead
My name is Joy Engle-Young and I am tremendously excited to dive into summer and experience the adventures that will come during Summer Day Camp at the EQT Rec Center. I am a graduate of Waynesburg University and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 2015. Since then, I have been utilizing my degree as a substitute teacher at the Jefferson-Morgan School District. Working with children is something that I have been doing since I was a child myself. One of my first jobs was babysitting and I always enjoyed spending time with the kids and the families that I worked with over the years. Coming up with engaging activities and hearing what the kids had to say always brought smiles, plenty of laughs, and happiness to my heart. As often as I can, I spend time working with the kids at my church. For example, teaching lessons on Wednesdays, occasionally assisting with children led worship services, and directing the summer day camp are a few of the positions where I have served. Hanging out with kids is one of my favorite ways to spend my time and I am certain that it is something that I am called to do with life.

Ben Bumgardner – Camp Counselor
I am a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School and currently am attending Penn State University and majoring in Kinesiology. During my time at Waynesburg Central I found a love for the sports of cross country and track and field and though these sports I was able to win two state titles. Because of this I am able to continue to do what I love and compete collegiately at Penn State in both cross country and track. Being part of this camp is a great opportunity for me to be able to show kids how much fun and enriching sports can be and I look forward to doing so.

Kaitlin Fisher – Camp Counselor
I love working with kids because I love the energy and happiness they carry with them. As a kid, I grew up with a younger sister and we played constantly. I am a kid at heart and believe everyone should have there special play mate just like I did. I did a year of elementary tutoring. There i helped out a first grade class. I did a project with the kids every couple weeks and helped them each day with whatever they were learning at that time. I was apart of girl scouts for 8 years and had a lot of experience through those years with helping younger scouts. I have done a Day Camp program for the past two years, and loved every second of it. My goal for each day of day camp is to make at least one kid smile and be happy to be there!

Some include on the playground, in a pool, playing sports, in learning workshops, and serving food. I believe that when I work with kids I am able to teach or show them a thing or two that will help them in the future. I enjoy being a role model for the youth.
